How is a Gold Scatter different from a silver one in Dionysus Golden Feast?

Only the gold one starts a respin. It turns into a random symbol, which stays put with every match and wild while the other positions respin, until nothing new sticks. A silver one goes into the three-slot meter under the reels, which also counts any Scatter landing during those respins and empties after each spin. A full meter gives 8 free spins, each opening with a Gold Scatter the game places itself. On 22 of our paid spins two silver coins landed with no gold one, and nothing followed.

A gold coin that turns into a symbol and holds it

A gold coin stamped with two theatre masks turned up on 16 paid spins out of our 750, and not one of those spins ended when the reels first stopped. The coin becomes a random symbol, never a Scatter or a wild, and it locks in place together with every matching symbol and every wild. Everything else respins, and anything new that matches locks too. A respin that adds nothing ends the run, as does a full screen, and lines made only of held symbols are paid at the end.

A second coin during the respins draws another symbol, and the rules keep the more valuable of the two and upgrade every held symbol but the wilds to it. On spin 172 the first coin drew the Q and a later one the 10, so the held 10s became Qs, and the respins finished with €39.00 in Q lines. No Gold Scatter did better for us outside the bonus.

Dionysus Golden Feast 9s held in respin
Ten 9s on gold tiles around a wild amphora in the middle of reel 3, four positions still spinning, the meter showing one gold mask and FREE SPINS 2: the sixth free spin of the round we bought.

Respins in the base game usually paid far less. All 16 together brought in €141.50, and 6 paid nothing. In each of those the coin had drawn a card rank, and no line of it formed.

Three slots under the reels, emptied after every spin

The meter has three slots, and any Scatter fills one, silver or gold. It counts everything that lands during the spin and its respins, then resets, so nothing carries over. Three Scatters give 8 free spins, and three more in a free spin add 4. Silver coins without a gold one came often, singly on 85 paid spins and in pairs on 22, and the meter emptied each time.

The session's only natural bonus needed a gold coin first. On spin 365 a gold coin at the top of reel 3 became a 10, and the second respin dropped two silver coins along the bottom of reels 4 and 5, the second and third slots of the meter. Our media session started its own bonus on its third spin with gold, silver and gold.

Dionysus Golden Feast full Scatter meter
Js sit held on gold tiles on reels 1, 2 and 3 during the respins of media spin 3 at a €1.00 bet, next to a wild amphora on reel 4, and the meter under the reels is lit gold, silver and gold.

From there the game takes over the gold part. Each free spin opens with one Gold Scatter placed on the reels, so every free spin is a respin round with a fresh random symbol.

Amphoras that double a line, then double it again

A gold amphora on a purple disc is the wild. It stands in for everything but the Scatters, and each one on a winning line doubles it: x2 for one, x4 for two, up to x32 for five. Our paid spins and their respins doubled 81 line wins, quadrupled 9 and multiplied 1 by 8, and lines with a wild in them brought in €373.00, against €614.00 from the base game as a whole.

The x8 came on spin 307, with reel 2 full of amphoras and two more on reels 3 and 5. One line ran five As through three of them, €7.50 times 8 for €60.00, and eight smaller lines took the spin to 94x.

Dionysus Golden Feast wild doubles a line
On the final free spin of our purchase, As on reels 1 and 2 and a wild on reel 3 carry x2 tags and 2.00 shows at the start of their line, with 5.00 under the reels and 55.00 in the payout field.

One bonus in 750 spins, and a hit rate under one in five

In all we staked €750.00 at €1.00 a spin and collected €813.00, or 108.4%, against the 96.16% on Thunderkick's page. Only 16.8% of spins paid anything, with 2x as the median win, and one stretch went 29 spins without a cent.

Running balance of our 750 paid spins at €1.00: €5,000.00 at the start (dashed line), minus every stake, plus every win. Pink dots mark the spins that started free spins.

The balance slipped below its start on spin 29 and stayed there until spin 306, touching €4,924.00 on spin 274. The 94x of spin 307 lifted it back over €5,000.00, and it never fell under again. Spin 365 then paid 202x, 3.00 from the respin that set it off and €199.00 from its 8 free spins.

Free spin 1 drew Dionysus, who pays €10.00 for three and €20.00 for four, and two lines of four with an amphora at x2 helped that spin to €98.00. Free spin 2 held Ks beside a pair of wilds for €38.00, and free spin 6 upgraded held 10s to Qs for €35.00. After peaking at €5,241.00, the balance closed at €5,063.00. Minus that round, the session returns 81.5%.

An 85x buy, and the Midas comparison in the listings

For 85x the bet, €85.00 at our stake, BUY FEATURE sells the Bonus Game, rated 96.42% against 96.16% for paid spins. Thunderkick's rules promise a spin that triggers the bonus and say nothing about how it fills the meter. The one we filmed came with three silver coins.

Both rates apply to the 96.16% build that this demo plays and Thunderkick's game page shows. The studio's sheets add 94.14%, 92.15% and 90.16% builds that a casino may install in its place, and some markets forbid bonus buys outright.

No retrigger came in any of our three purchases, so each ran 8 spins. The control buys paid €131.00 and €43.00 and the filmed one €55.00, which makes €229.00 back for €255.00.

Three silver coins land on the €85.00 spin we bought at a €1.00 bet, and each of the 8 free spins starts with a gold coin. Sound is on. Free spin 6 holds 9s around a wild for €40.00, the last spin adds €13.00, and the payout field ends on €55.00.

Listings often set this game beside Midas Golden Touch: AboutSlots says its gameplay resembles it, and Casinos.com names it as a similar slot. Both run 5x3 with 15 paylines and a wild that doubles a line per copy, but no Thunderkick source links the two, and the bonuses start differently. Its Reborn build is listed at 96.17%, stops a round at 10,100x and prices its buy at 80x.

Most paid spins here pay nothing, and much of the action waits for a gold coin. Watching a screen fill one respin at a time is what this game offers. The coin to hope for draws Dionysus or one of the three mid symbols, since their lines of three or four pay two to ten times a card rank's.

Edge cases of the gold and silver coins

Our sources here are the rules screens and the server's replies to our spins and purchases.

Can three Silver Scatters start the free spins on their own?

Yes. The rules fill the meter with Scatters of either colour, and each of the three spins we bought landed exactly that: three silver coins, no gold one, and 8 free spins. None of our 750 paid spins showed three silvers, though; two was the most, and without a Gold Scatter there was no respin to add a third.

Does the Gold Scatter placed at the start of a free spin count towards a retrigger?

It does. In the server's replies the placed coin takes the first slot of the meter, so two more Scatters during that free spin's respins would add 4 spins. None of our rounds retriggered, and in the four whose server replies we hold (one from a separate 25-spin probe), the meter never went past two.

What happens when two Gold Scatters pick different symbols?

The game keeps the more valuable pick and turns every held symbol into it, wilds excepted. Spin 275 landed two gold coins at once, which drew the K and the Q. Everything became a K, and the respins ended with ten lines of four Ks for €25.00.

Has a Sticky Respin ever filled all 15 positions for us?

No. The rules stop a respin once every position is locked, but our busiest one held 13 of the 15, in free spin 3 of a control buy, where an upgrade had just turned held 9s into Js. In the base game the most was 12, on spins 172 and 275.
