Midas Golden Touch Demo: Doubling Wilds and Sticky Respins

Midas Golden Touch – Reborn is built on one rule: every wild on a winning line doubles it, up to x32 with five. The 5x3 grid has 15 paylines, the bonus game locks winning symbols for respins, and Thunderkick lists an RTP of 96.17%, high volatility and a cap of 10,100x the bet.

How do the wild multipliers in Midas Golden Touch work?

Each wild on a winning payline doubles that line: one wild gives x2, two give x4, and the rules screen continues to x32 for five. The wild stands in for every symbol except the scatter and also pays on its own, 75.00 for five at a €1.00 bet. In our 750 demo spins at €1.00, 45 of the 139 base-game wins carried a wild multiplier, and no winning line ever held more than two wilds.

Fifteen fixed lines and a wild that doubles every line it joins

The reels sit in a gold frame between white marble columns and red banners marked with a golden hand. The board is 5x3 with 15 paylines that never change. A line pays from the leftmost reel to the right with no gaps, and only its longest win counts.

King Midas, a bearded king in a gold laurel crown, is the top symbol, paying 10.00 for three, 20.00 for four and 75.00 for a full line of five at the default €1.00 stake. The wild, two hands cupped around a glowing light, pays the same on its own. Below them come a laurel wreath on a red cushion, a silver goblet, a chest of coins and jewelled card ranks from A to 9, whose values sit on a part of the rules page our capture did not reach.

Media spin 66 at a €1.00 bet: the wild on reel 1 and three green Qs form one line, each tile tagged x2, and the win counter shows 5.00, or 5x the bet.

The multiplier is the whole idea of the base game. The rules draw it as a staircase: one wild on a winning line doubles it, two make it x4, and three, four or five wilds give x8, x16 or x32. Because one reel position belongs to several of the fifteen lines, a single wild can double more than one win on the same spin.

The best base-game spin in our log, 40x on spin 451, was a single line of four King Midas symbols, one of them the wild, worth 20.00 and doubled. Next came spin 537, five lines (four of jacks, one of chests) each doubled by one of two wilds on reel 3, for 36x, and spin 140: six lines of three chests, four of them doubled by the same wild, for 30x. Only one base-game win in the whole session reached x4.

Three temple doors, ten spins and wins that refuse to move

The scatter is a golden door with a sun emblem, framed by two marble columns under a pediment. The wild cannot replace it. Three or more anywhere on the reels start the bonus game, and their number sets its length: 10 free spins for three, 15 for four and 20 for five.

Media spin 33 at €1.00: the BONUS GAME banner announces 10 FREE SPINS over the dimmed reels, with €4,988.00 in the cash field.

Two rules change once the bonus starts. A single wild is placed on a random position at the beginning of every free spin, so each spin opens with a multiplier already on the board. And any win sets off a sticky respin: the symbols of the winning line are locked, the rest of the reels spin again, and this repeats until a respin locks nothing new. In the rules picture a locked symbol swaps its usual background for plain gold.

Free spin 13 of 20 in our bought round: three purple 10s sit locked on gold tiles beside the wild while the other positions on reels 2 to 5 spin again, with €62.00 in the payout field.

A bar with three empty slots also sits under the reels. The rules picture it beneath the words +10 FREE SPINS, with a small scatter icon in each slot, but the text that explains it is on the part of the page we did not capture. The clip below shows it at work: in our bought round all three slots lit up during the sixth free spin and the counter went from 10 spins to 20. All 3 rounds that started on their own in our 750 spins ran for exactly 10.

How one bonus round shaped our 750 spins at €1.00

Over 750 paid spins at €1.00, starting from the demo's €5,000.00 play-money balance, the stakes came back at 93.0%: €697.50 on €750.00. That is below the published 96.17%, but one session this short says little about a long-run average, and a single bonus round paid 33% of everything that came back.

Running balance of our 750 paid spins at €1.00: €5,000.00 at the start (dashed line), minus every stake, plus every win. The spins were played in more than one demo session; the line counts them as one. Pink dots mark the spins that started free spins.

142 of the 750 spins paid something (18.9%), and the median win was 2x. No base-game win in our log paid less than the stake, and 57 of the 139 returned exactly €1.00. The longest dry run lasted 24 spins.

The balance had sunk to €4,946.00 by spin 72 when spin 73 started free spins that paid 230x. 16 spins later a second round added 21.5x. The 30x chest spin then set the high of €5,201.50 on spin 140. From there our running balance drifted down, past a third bonus worth 6x on spin 518, to a low of €4,942.50 on spin 748 and €4,947.50 at the end. Take away the round on spin 73 and the session would have returned 62.3%.

Inside that round, the first four free spins paid nothing. Spins five to eight paid 11, 25, 40 and 154 times the bet, the last with a line at x4, so two wilds on it, and the final two were blank. Almost the whole 230x arrived in four spins.

Our bought bonus from the media session at a €1.00 bet: 10 free spins to start, the three-slot bar under the reels lit up during the sixth, the counter moved to 20, and the round ended on €98.00.

Paying 80x to go straight to the bonus

The BUY FEATURE button sits at the bottom right of the screen, next to the bet. Thunderkick's demo server lists a single option, a bonus game with at least three scatters, priced at 80x the stake: €80.00 at the default bet. The buy carries its own RTP, 96.43%, against 96.17% for ordinary spins.

Both percentages belong to the version on Thunderkick's game page, which is the one this demo runs. Thunderkick also certifies versions at 94.13%, 92.14%, 90.14% for casinos; each casino picks the one it offers, and in some markets the feature buy is switched off altogether.

The one bonus we bought during the media session returned €98.00 against the €80.00 price, after the cash field had dropped from €5,029.00 to €4,949.00 on confirming. One purchase proves nothing about the 96.43% figure either way; it shows the locked respins and the extra-spin bar at work.

The 2019 original and the Reborn build

Midas Golden Touch first came out in 2019, and the Reborn build dates from 2022. We found no Thunderkick announcement of what Reborn means, but its eCOGRA test reports describe it: a new build of the earlier slot, certified on its own and given its own game ID, which brings the Feature Buy with a separate RTP plus several RTP versions, while the theme, grid, 15 paylines and core features stay as they were.

Two published numbers moved slightly. Thunderkick's information sheet for the original game listed an RTP of 96.1% and a max exposure of 10,196x, while the Reborn page lists 96.17% and 10,100x.

The original also has a trophy to its name. According to European Gaming, Midas Golden Touch was named Best New Video Slot at the Videoslots Awards 2019.

Beside Sword of Khans, Griffin's Gold and Esqueleto Explosivo 2

The nearest match on this site is Sword of Khans: a 5x3 board with 10 paylines, Thunderkick's high rating, a 80x Bonus Game buy and a cap of 10,000x. Its default version returns 95.36%, below the 96.17% here.

Griffin's Gold keeps the 5x3 layout with 9 paylines, is rated very high and allows up to 22,222x, with a 125x buy. Our 750 spins there returned 86.2%, against 93.0% here. Short sessions can land some way apart.

For a different shape, Esqueleto Explosivo 2 uses a 5x3 grid with 99 pay ways and symbols that drop after each win. Thunderkick rates it medium and caps it at 5,000x.

Our read on Midas Golden Touch

Midas Golden Touch is a plain line slot built around one idea. With no cascades or meters in the base game, each spin comes down to whether a wild lands on a winning line. Lines without one pay modestly; lines with one are doubled and rarely more. The bonus game has the reach, since the random wild and the locked respins can stack doubled lines inside one free spin, and our best result came from there.

It suits players who like a clear rule set and can sit through quiet stretches. Spin a hundred times at €1.00 and count the wilds, then buy one bonus and watch the respins lock; with play money, neither step costs anything.

Midas Golden Touch, briefly answered

What people tend to ask before the first spin, with the source of each answer named inside it.

Do I need an account to try Midas Golden Touch?

No. The window above runs Thunderkick's own client in play-money mode, opening with a €5,000.00 balance. There is no account, no deposit and no real-money win. The bet selector has 14 steps from €0.10 to €100.00, and the game starts at €1.00.

How long is the Midas Golden Touch bonus game?

The rules screen ties it to the scatters that start it: 10 free spins for three, 15 for four and 20 for five. Each free spin begins with one wild placed at random, and any win locks its symbols for respins. All 3 of our natural rounds were three-scatter rounds of 10 spins.

Is the Reborn version a different game from the 2019 Midas Golden Touch?

Not in how it plays. Thunderkick's test reports describe the Reborn build as a newly certified version under a different game ID, which brings in the 80x Feature Buy and extra RTP versions; the theme, the 15 paylines and the features of the 2019 original stay the same.

How big can one round of Midas Golden Touch get?

The ceiling set in Thunderkick's demo server is 10,100x the bet, which comes to €10,100.00 when you play the €1.00 default stake. Nothing in our session came close: the best result in 750 paid spins was 230x, from the free spins that started on spin 73.
