Serpentico Smash slot by Thunderkick

Five reels of six rows pay for groups of 5 or more matching symbols, and every winning symbol, like every Scatter, turns heavy and crushes the symbols beneath it. Crushed Multiplier symbols feed a Global Multiplier that can reach x999, and three Scatters in one spin open 10 free spins. Wins are capped at 5,000x the bet, with 94.18% RTP and volatility rated High, and Thunderkick's free demo below needs no registration before the first spin.

Is anything under a heavy symbol safe from the Crush in Serpentico Smash?

Only another heavy symbol. Everything else below it on the same reel is crushed. Winning symbols turn heavy once their win is paid, and a Scatter as soon as it lands. Each crushed symbol moves the Charge Meter one step, a crushed Wild fills all 30, and a crushed Multiplier symbol adds its value to the Global Multiplier. In our 750 paid spins 3,695 symbols were crushed, each under a heavy symbol on its own reel, and nothing under one escaped.

Winners and Scatters turn heavy and flatten their reel to the bottom row

The smallest win needs five matching symbols that touch side to side or top to bottom. Thunderkick's rules call the grid 6x5, rows first, but on screen it is five reels of six rows. Wilds can replace any symbol but the Scatter and the Multiplier, and only where the symbol they replace belongs to the winning group.

On a €1.00 stake the gold serpent tile pays from 2.00 for a cluster of 8 up to 50.00 for 20 or more symbols, and the green one from 1.00 up to 20.00. The rules page scrolls before the rows for 5 to 7, so the five-symbol prices come from our log: 0.40 for five gold tiles, 0.20 for five green or blue ones and 0.10 for five gems.

Once a win is paid, its symbols turn heavy and crush everything below them on their reel except other heavy symbols, and a Scatter does the same the moment it lands. Heavy and crushed symbols then vanish together, and new ones drop into the gaps. The redrop can pay again, and the cycle repeats until the grid shows neither a win nor a Scatter.

A redrop followed in 285 paid spins out of 750, and the longest chain ran to 12 screens. The other 465 ended on the screen they landed on. A heavy cluster on the bottom row crushes nothing, while a Scatter near the top of a reel can clear five cells.

A step on the meter for most crushed symbols, a bigger multiplier for the blocks

The Charge Meter has 30 steps, filled one crushed symbol at a time or all at once by a crushed Wild. Each full charge adds a Wild to the Collected Wilds meter, which holds 5. When no win is left and no Scatter is on the grid, the meter places one Wild per charge on cells without a Multiplier or another Wild, and it empties at the start of every paid spin. Our 750 spins placed 57 Wilds this way, on 38 spins, never more than 2 at a time.

Multiplier symbols, the purple blocks, never win and never turn heavy. When one is crushed, its value, x1, x2, x3, x5, x10, x25 or x50, is added to the Global Multiplier, which multiplies every later win of the same paid spin, up to x999, and is back at x1 on the following paid spin. A win is paid before its Crush, so the cluster that crushes a block is paid at the old value. The multiplier left x1 on 137 of our paid spins.

Serpentico Smash x58 Global Multiplier win
MEGA WIN still counts at 50.48 on filming spin 29, but the payout box already reads 141.40 at a 1.00 bet, with x58 under the logo.

That filmed spin's first two screens paid 0.60 at x1, and the second Crush took blocks worth 51 at once. The next three drops, paid at x52, then x54 and x57, lifted it to 141.40, more than double anything in our logged spins, and a last Crush left x58 on screen. Our best logged spin without free spins, number 48, followed the same pattern. Its 13 serpent tiles paid 4.00 at x1 and crushed an x50, and four more drops added 42.40 at x51 to x54. Spin 220 reached x54 as well, but only one five-symbol win of 0.10 followed, 5.40 at x54, and the whole spin paid 6x.

Three Eyes gathered over one spin's redrops, then ten spins that keep the multiplier

Collect three Scatters during one paid spin and 10 free spins follow. They need not land together, since the count runs across the redrops of that spin and returns to zero on the next. In each of our four natural triggers the three came on separate drops, spin 186 collecting them on drops 3, 5 and 9. Another 123 paid spins stopped at one Scatter.

Serpentico Smash Scatter eye and x7
Filming spin 12 stops on 14.50 at a 1.00 bet and x7, with two X2 blocks left on reels 3 and 5, the Charge Meter on 3 of 30 and one eye of the stone head lit. The server counted one Scatter on this spin.

The Global Multiplier and the Charge Meter are emptied before the first free spin, and from then on neither resets, so whatever the Crush adds stays until the last spin.

Filming spin 70 at a 1.00 bet, with sound: 10 free spins start at x1 and free spin 6 adds one. Crushed blocks lift the multiplier to x3 on free spin 5 and x8 on free spin 7. Free spin 8 crushes an x5 and an x3, then an x25 and an x1, and pays 45.80 on its way to x42. Two drops of the last spin pay 25.20 each, and the payout box closes on 106.90.

Logged spin 21 had the same kind of climb. Its free spin 4 crushed x2 and x25 blocks at once, took the multiplier from x1 to x28 and on to x30, and paid 39.90 of a round worth 61.8x, the session's best.

Four bonus rounds by spin 366, none in the 384 spins after

For €750.00 in €1.00 stakes, our 750 paid spins returned €549.40, or 73.3% against Thunderkick's 94.18%. Of those spins, 30.8% paid something, and half of the wins were worth 0.4x the stake or less.

  • 4free spins rounds triggered

The high, €5,139.60, came with the bonus on spin 64, and the balance stayed at or above the start from spin 21 to spin 347. On spin 186 the trigger spin itself paid 29.60 as its multiplier reached x22, and the free spins, back at x1, added only 2.10.

The 384 spins after the fourth bonus returned €185.20, or 48.2% of their stakes. The best of them, spin 470, paid 33x as its multiplier climbed to x21 over 10 screens. The balance finished on its low point, €4,799.40. The worst dry patch, 19 spins, ran from spin 500 to 518, and on a game rated High no sample this small settles the RTP.

One buy card at 75x, and three BET+ stakes that change the odds

Only one card waits behind BUY FEATURE. For 75x the bet it plays a spin that triggers the Bonus Game, with the multiplier and the meter at their starting values.

Serpentico Smash Bonus Game feature buy
BUY FEATURE offers one card, Bonus Game, at BUY (€) 75.00 under three glowing eye Scatters, with Yes and No under "Confirm purchase" and Bet (€) 1.00 below.

BET+ is not a purchase. It raises the stake of every spin until it is switched off. Bonus Boost costs 1.5 times the bet and doubles the bonus chance. At 2.5 times, Bonus Boost Plus makes it 5 times as likely, while Smash Boost charges 3.5 times, triples the chance and takes the x1 and x2 blocks out of the game. Thunderkick rates them at 94.20%, 94.30% and 94.40%, a shade above plain spins, and the buy at 94.50%. The demo plays the build on Thunderkick's game page. A casino may run the only other build, 92.17%, and no 96% one exists. Bonus buys are illegal in some markets.

Our three purchases at €1.00 ran 11, 13 and 12 free spins, every extra one from a Scatter, and paid 133.30, 12.50 and 40.40, the last one filmed. Their final multipliers were x33, x9 and x47. Together they returned €186.20 on €225.00.

King of the Party makes a useful comparison on this site, with 30 cells again and one multiplier for the whole screen. There every winning drop lifts it a step, while here it moves only when a block is crushed, by that block's value. It can idle at x1 through a long chain or gain 50 in one Crush.

The Crush does mostly housekeeping, and the base game pays in tenths of the stake. A spin is decided by the moment a crushed x25 or x50 arrives: early in a long chain of drops, as on spin 48, or near the end with little left to pay, as on spin 220.

From crushed Scatters to the 94.5% in one listing

Each answer cites Thunderkick's rules or game page, or our server log.

Can a Scatter be crushed?

No. A Scatter turns heavy as soon as it lands, and heavy symbols are never crushed. Our log has no crushed Scatter at all, while Wilds went under 21 times and Multiplier symbols 267 times.

Does the Global Multiplier carry into the free spins?

No. The Bonus Game starts at x1 again, with an empty Charge Meter. On spin 21 the multiplier had reached x15 by the end of the trigger spin, and the first free spin began at x1.

Is there a limit to the extra free spins?

The rules name none, and each Scatter that lands during the Bonus Game adds one spin. Our four natural rounds ran 10 spins each, the natural round we filmed 11, and our three purchases 11, 12 and 13.

What does Smash Boost change?

Each spin costs 3.5 times the bet, the Bonus Game becomes 3 times as likely, and Multiplier symbols of x1 and x2 can no longer land, in the base game or the bonus. The Global Multiplier still opens every paid spin at x1. Thunderkick rates the mode at 94.40%. We did not play it.

Why does one listing put the RTP at 94.5%?

That is the bought Bonus Game. Thunderkick's rules rate a purchase at 94.50%, while ordinary spins in the build this demo runs return 94.18%, the figure on the game page and the demo server. The three BET+ modes sit between the two.
